5/22/22 SENIOR RECOGNITION SUNDAY

SENIOR RECOGNITION SUNDAY
On Sunday, May 22 we will be recognizing all the seniors in our congregation, 70 years of age and over, as well as our high school seniors. This will take place at both the Early and Late Services.

5th Sunday Combined Worship services

It’s Back!!!
After a two-year hiatus, due to COVID, we will return to our 5th Sunday One-Combined worship service and congregational meal on Sunday, May 29. Being a congregation with two worship services, it is sometimes a challenge getting to know “the other half” of the congregation. Since 2010, on the 5th Sunday of each month, Holy Trinity makes a conscious effort to provide opportunities for us to get to know each other better, and what better way is there to do this than a worship together followed by a good meal? Mark your calendars now and please make every effort to be a part of this congregational event.

WHAT: 5th Sunday, One-Combined Worship

WHEN: May 29, 2022 @ 10:00 a.m. (make note of the time)

No Sunday School this day.

WHAT: After worship, we will gather in Fellowship Hall for a Pot-luck meal. Please bring a dish or two to share.
Drinks will be provided.

5/1/2022 Weekly Congregational Update

Dear Members and Friends of Holy Trinity,

Just a few things to pass along to you this week:

  1. There were 12 Easter lilies remaining in the church this week.  Since all blooms have since fallen, they have been moved to the Pairs and Spares kitchen.  If you provided a lily or two for the Easter Service, you have until Sunday to pick up your lily.  After Sunday they will be released to whoever wants them.
  2. This Sunday is the deadline for the Mother’s Day recognition in the bulletin.  A special offering, sponsored by WELCA, is being received and will be given to deserving female students at the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary.  If you would like to make a donation IN MEMORY Of or IN HONOR OF your mother, please either fill out the form Sunday and drop it into the offering plate or send Pat an email BY SUNDAY EVENING to:  htlc@htlc-anderson.com  Names will be listed in the Mother’s Day bulletin.

  3. The May edition of The Messenger was mailed out today.  Hopefully, you will receive your copy this week!

  4. A reminder that we will be returning to Holy Communion at the altar from this point forward beginning Sunday.  If the Maundy Thursday worship services were any indication of where we are as a congregation, most of us would benefit to brush up on “the old way” of communing at that altar, including the pastor.  Please remember:
    1. To pick up a glass on the way to the altar from the serving table.  Empty glasses will be filled at the altar with wine. Glasses with grape juice are pre-filled in the center of the tray.
    2. When we go up the altar, we fill the next open spot, from left to right.
    3. You may choose to kneel or stand at the altar.
    4. After communion, the empty glasses are to be placed on the table beside the organ.
    5. If you have any difficulty at all with using the steps, I encourage you to remain in your pew and I will bring commune to you. Just inform an usher.
    6. All the instructions are in the bulletin.
    7. But the reality is, that for most of us, this “new, old way” of communion will all come back to us very quickly.

  5. Sunday, I will be preaching on the gospel reading, John 21:1-19.  Some questions to ponder:
    1. What is the significance of the location Jesus has chosen to appear to his disciples?
    2. What is the significance of the meal itself?
    3. What is the importance of the number of fish mentioned?
    4. Why does Jesus ask Peter three times, if he loves him?

In Christ,

Pastor Fischer

04/24/22 Weekly Congregtational Updates

Dear Members and Friends of Holy Trinity,

Here are a few updates for this week:

  1. We had a great attendance this past week on Easter Sunday.  We had 40 to attend the 7:00 a.m. worship service, 90 to attend the 9:00 a.m. service and 83 to attend the 11:00 a.m. service for a total of 213!

  2. If you provided an Easter lily for Easter Sunday, you may stop by the church and pick it up any time at your convenience (or pick it up after worship this coming Sunday morning.)

  3. Sunday will be Youth Sunday, when the Youth of our congregation are in charge of the entire worship service.  You are encouraged to come out and support our Youth this Sunday with your attendance.

See you Sunday,

Pastor Fischer

4/17/22 Weekly Congregational Update

Dear Members and Friends of Holy Trinity,

Here are a few things to pass along to you this week:

  1. Again, we had a great turnout this past Sunday with 62 in attendance at the Early Service and 68 at the Late Service for a total of 130!

  2. We will once again have our Flowered Cross out in front of the church on Easter morning.  Please bring flowers to place into the wire mesh, either from your yard or from the grocery store.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to take photos of you and your family, before or after worship.

  3. On Easter Sunday you will have three opportunities to worship – 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. at three identical services.

  4. Holy Communion on this  Festive day will be on the floor level.  After Sunday, we will return to the altar, from this point forward, for Holy Communion.

  5. I will be preaching on the gospel reading, Luke 24:1-12 as we look at what has been called, “One of the most important sentences ever uttered,” in verse 5, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?”

Looking forward with great excitement to the Celebration of Easter,

Pastor Fischer

Good Friday

Dear Members and Friends of Holy Trinity,

Our Good Friday services will be at 12:00 Noon and 7:00 p.m. and will be identical.

If for some reason you are not able to attend our Holy Week services, a worship service from each day will be recorded and placed on the church website.

In Christ,

Pastor Fischer

Maundy Thursday Services

Dear Members and Friends of HTLC,

We will have two Maundy Thursday worship services (12:00 Noon and 7:00 p.m.).  They are identical except for the Stripping of the Altar which will take place at the evening service.  We will be returning to the altar for Holy Communion for these two special worship services.

In Christ,

Pastor Fischer
