Holy Trinity’s 2020 Stewardship Campaign

“What can I give back to God for all the blessings He has poured out on me?”
Psalm 116:12
On Sunday, October 6th and today Sunday, October 13th the Support Committee kicked off Holy Trinity’s 2020 Stewardship Campaign with Temple Talks at both services.
This year’s theme, “Giving Back”, challenges us, as God’s people, to count our blessings and return to God that which He has first given us — our time, our talents, and our treasure.
Prior to each service on October 13th members of the Support Committee will be on hand to distribute Stewardship Packets. Each packet will contain an Estimate of Giving Card and a Time and Talent Survey for each family member. The next two Sundays, October 20th and October 27th during the worship service, you will be given an opportunity to share your time, talents, and treasure by returning your completed Estimate of Giving Card and your Time and Talent Survey during the appropriate time in the service. If you forget your card and survey, ushers will have extras available — just ask. You may also mail your response directly to the church office. We hope to have all responses returned by November 3.
Count your blessings. Think about your giving plan. Prayerfully consider what you will give back to God for all the blessings He has poured out on you.

I am interested in being more involved in the ministry of the congregation. What is the process?

Helpful Hint of the Month
I am interested in being more involved in the ministry of the congregation.
What is the process?
This is the perfect time. Each October members of the congregation have the
opportunity to fill out a Time and Talent Survey, indicating what they would like
to do in the upcoming year. Would you like to serve as an assistant minister or
lay reader? Are you interested in serving on the Altar Guild (preparing Holy
Communion, washing altar linens, distributing the altar flowers to the home
bound, polishing the altar brassware and candles, cleaning up after Holy
Communion)? Next year we are doing something new as we look for adults who
will be helping as acolytes, and occasional crucifers, torch bearers and bible
bearers. After the Time and Talent surveys are returned, Nancy Korn creates a
worship spread sheet from all the information for the following year and this is
shared with the various committee chairs.
We could really use a few more teams to serve as offering tabulators. Would you
like to provide altar flowers in Memory Of or In Honor Of someone? This is the
time to do this. Our secretary, Pat, creates these two schedules.
Would you like to serve on a committee or team? Choices include: Worship and Music, Learning, Witness, Service, Health Ministry, Mutual Ministry, Personnel, Property, Support, Fellowship/Recreation, Future Ministry, Youth, Mission Endowment, Audit, Columbarium, Playground, Visitation, and Safety. For more information about each group, see the church By-Laws or contact Pastor Fischer for how often these committees meet and what they do.
Please know that if you volunteer you will be called upon to serve. Come serve the Lord and His people through these opportunities! Training will be provided for each ministry.

“Let’s Talk — Beginning The Conversation” October 13

Have you ever thought about who would care for you or make healthcare decisions for you if weren’t able? Have you been wrestling with how to even begin this conversation for yourself or your loved ones? On Sunday, October 13th, immediately following the 11:00 AM worship service, please join us as we gather in the Fellowship Hall. There, we will have a chance to begin this process in a non-threatening manner. Please join us for lunch and a chance to play “The Hello Game”. As we fellowship with each other, this game will help us to begin to start thinking about the what, who, and when of advanced care planning. Lunch and all supplies will be provided. Please make plans to join us. Questions? Contact Amy Goodson.

REFORMATION SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27

REFORMATION SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27
We remember Martin Luther, born in 1483, nine years before Columbus discovered America. He studied law at the age of 21; became a priest at 23 and a doctor of theology at 28; wrote and nailed the 95 thesis at age 33 and 34; was ex-communicated and became a fugitive at 38; translated the Bible into German at 40; and died from a stroke at the age of 63, an internationally admired leader. His teachings stressed justification by faith, universal priesthood of believers; and supremacy of scripture which form the cornerstone of Protestantism. [Please wear red on this Sunday.]

Trick or treat so others may eat 2019

Trick -or-Treat- So- Others- May- Eat — The Youth will meet after the Late Service on October 20th and head to Subway for lunch and then go to the neighborhoods to distribute the bags. We will once again have bags available for the congregation to make food donations. The congregation is asked to pick up their bag on the 20th and bring it back on the 27th filled with food items and put them in the room off the Narthex. Then on October 27th, the Youth will return to the neighborhoods to pick up the filled bags. We will need some vehicles to help with the pick-up. If you are able to help, please see Amy Goodson.
