New Restroom is finished

Hallway Restroom Off the Sanctuary Project
The sanctuary restroom was constructed by a combination of contractors and HTLC volunteers. Olin Bell recommended the contractors based on his experience. The carpenter relocated the closet door and built a new restroom door and door frame that matches the existing style of doors. The drywall contractor installed the new walls, covered them with drywall and finished them to a smooth surface. They also installed the new suspended ceiling. The electrician installed the restroom and hallway ceiling lighting, the restroom ceiling fan and wall outlet. The plumber installed the water lines, the sink and the point-of use water heater. He also installed the sewer lines and toilet. Another contractor installed red carpet on the steps that had been extended. The piece of red carpet used was saved from the restroom floor area. HTLC volunteers undertook the painting of the restroom walls, door and the hallway walls. Much work had to go into prepping the lower wall areas for repainting. Those walls had been covered with oil based paint that had to be sanded and cleaned prior to the paint application. Also, vinyl plank flooring was installed as the restroom floor covering. Thanks to Mike Cox, Ernie Thorns, and Tom Weeks for their hours of hard work and to Jill Helgeson for her decorating guidance.

Lent Reminders

Just a reminder
The Forty Days before Easter are the Lenten season. During this time we omit the refrains that are connected to celebrating Christ’s resurrection and we use the verses appropriate for Lent. They are:
• We refrain from singing Allelulias because of its connection to Easter.
• There is no Absolution (minister declaring our forgiveness, page 118) for all of Lent is a time of self-examination.
• Omit the Hymn of Praise: “Glory to God in the highest” and we instead lead straight into The Prayer of the Day.
• We sing the Lenten verse: “Let your steadfast Love” page 125.
• We use the Apostles’ Creed.

Why Is That Dead Tree in the Church?

Why Is That Dead Tree in the Church?
You can’t help but notice the “dead” tree covered in caterpillars which have appeared in the Sanctuary. You may question -why is it here or what is it about?
This is a project between the LCY and the Sunday School children. Before we began making these creations, we discussed how things are different in both the church and nature this time of year. We discussed how there are some things “sleeping” in our worship such as the use of Alleluias. We also talked about how everything in our yards such as the grass and trees look dead but they too are just “sleeping”. We discussed how some of God’s creatures such as caterpillars make cocoons. Although we might think they are dead, they actually have rebirth as a butterfly.
This tree is actually here to help each of us to remember that while the weather often is cool and gray and the grass is brown and the trees bare, there is the hope that Spring is coming! Bulbs are blooming and the days are getting longer. Just as we have hope for Spring, Lent gives us a time to hope for Easter and the promise that the resurrection brings.
Just as the change of seasons brings surprises, keep watching the tree thru the Lenten season — there are more surprises to come!

Lutheroad 2020 information

Dear parents, grandparents and friends of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church,
The learning Committee is very excited about Lutheroad Camp coming to our church the week of 29th – July 3rd. We would like to invite your children, grandchildren, and friends to join us for camp this summer. It will be a week of total fun!
Lutheroad Camp is a five-day program where many of the benefits of camp at Lutheridge+Lutherock come right to the local church. The program includes fun, worship, games, Bible study, fellowship, crafts, sharing and prayer.
Camp is for children that have completed kindergarten -5th grades. (Each evening we will also have Vacation Bible School for all preschool age children, youth, and adults during this same week. Look for these details in the months ahead.)

Camp will start at 1:00 each day and end at 8:00 each evening. (Friday, July 3rd camp will end at 5:00) We will serve a snack each afternoon and dinner will be served at 5:30 each evening.
We have a limited number of spots available and they will be filled on a first come basis. Please remember that if you register a child for camp that the church is paying for a wonderful Christian experience for that child. It would be very disappointing for us if a camper canceled at the last minute and we were not able to fill that spot. We also discourage signing children up that can not commit to all 5 days. This camp is modeled after a sleep away summer camp that promotes Christian bonds that are formed throughout the week between the counselors and campers. So…. make sure your calendars are marked and Lutheroad is part of your child’s summer plans.

I have included a registration form with this letter. Please return this form by March 1st to the church office. After this date day camp will be open to the community to fill any available spots. If you have any questions please feel free to call Kate Roehrs, 964-9763 or e-mail her at mkroehrs@gmail.com.
We are looking forward to an exciting week of camp!
In the Glory of God,
Kate Roehrs
The Learning Committee
