Sunday, October 7 Blessing of the Animals

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS
You are invited to join us on Sunday evening, October 7 for a Service of
the Blessing of Animals. We will gather in the back parking lot at 5:00
p.m.
Bring your pets — dogs, cats, birds, snakes, turtles, fish, gerbils, lizards or anything else you consider to be a family pet.

OFFERING OUR FIRST FRUITS

OFFERING OUR FIRST FRUITS
“I bring the first of the fruit of the ground that you, 0 Lord, have given me.”
Deuteronomy 26:10
On Sunday, October 7th and Sunday, October 14th the Support Committee will kick off Holy Trinity’s 2019 Stewardship Campaign with Temple Talks at both services. This year’s theme, “Offering Our First Fruits”, challenges us, as God’s people, to give our first and our best to God.
Prior to each service on October 14th members of the Support Committee will be on hand to distribute Stewardship Packets. Each packet will contain an Estimate of Giving Card and a Time and Talent Survey for each family member. The next two Sundays, October 21st and October 28th during the worship service, you will be given an opportunity to share your time, talents, and treasure by returning your completed Estimate of Giving Card and your Time and Talent Survey during the appropriate time in the service. If you forget your card and survey, ushers will have extras available — just ask. You may also mail your response directly to the church office. We hope to have all responses returned by November 4.
Think about your giving plan. As you prayerfully consider your response to offering your first fruits to God remember that God chose you as His first fruits — His first and best. Now it is your turn. Offer to God your first and your best.

WALKING WITH THE JESUS 9/22/18 – 10/27/18

WALKING WITH THE JESUS
As the seasons begin to change, we will once again look at small steps
we can take to improve our health. This year, we will be using the
Walking with Jesus Bible study starting Saturday, September 22nd, through October 27th. Participants will use the materials to re-trace Jesus’ travels and life throughout the week while walking and taking
small steps to healthier lifestyle habits. The group will meet each
Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall to discuss our
journey and to get tips on diet, stress reduction and more. We will then walk as a group around the neighborhoods of the church. In order to have enough devotional books for all, please sign up on the sheet in the narthex. This year, we are including all levels of fitness as well offering a “parking lot pedestrians” for those who are less agile or have other mobility issues. This group will walk in the parking lot and learn other simple chair exercises. Won’t you join us? For more information, please contact Amy Goodson, Faith Community Nurse.

Child Evangelism Fellowship/Good News Club Information and Updates:

As a congregation, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church continues to sponsor two elementary schools in the Good News Club. Some of our members help at Concord Elementary School while others assist at Mt. Lebanon Elementary School. If you are interested in being a part of this ministry please contact Sandi Jordan to volunteer at Concord and Jane Cahaly if you would like to help at Lebanon. We will begin meeting again on Sept. 12- Dec 12 and Jan. 8-April 9th.
On September 20th the CEF Annual Banquet and Fundraiser will take place in Anderson from 6:15-8:30 p.m. at Covenant Baptist Church. The Guest speakers will be Dr. Henry Blackaby and, his son, Dr. Richard Blackaby.

Please keep this mission’s work in your prayers. Your prayers are a vital part of this work which allows CEF to reach more and more children who are lost and without hope, with the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Anderson, in the US and throughout the 190 countries in which we serve. If you are unaware of this ministry, contact Donna Rogers, the Anderson Area Ministry Coordinator (864-367-2515).

Also consider attending the Banquet on September 20th where you will gain a much greater understanding and appreciation of what the Lord is doing to reach children with the Gospel and how you could co-labor with us.

Sunday September 9th 5PM Rite of Healing with Holy Communion

Sunday, September 9th 5:00 p.m.
Rite of Healing
with Holy communion
We believe as followers of Christ Jesus that our Lord desires our wholeness and healing. Broken bodies, minds or spirits are not our God’s intent for us. Yet, we live in a world broken by sin.
During a Service of the Word for Healing, we gather for the purpose of hearing God’s healing Word for us. The Rite of Healing is a time of intentional prayer for healing —healing of mind, body, spirit and relationship. We pray intentionally for the healing of friends, family, ourselves and our nation.
After the Scripture Readings, Sermon, and Prayers of the People, time will be given for silent prayer and for those who desire to come forward and kneel, as part of the Rite, the minister places his/her hands on the recipient’s head and prays. Oil, the ancient balm of healing and anointing, will mark your forehead in the shape of a cross.
Again, your prayers may be for yourself or a loved one. The Rite of Healing, an act as old as the Church, calls to our minds the promises of God to comfort and to remain with us.
You are encouraged to invite a friend and join us for this evening service in the church Sanctuary.
