OIAM Projects Report
April 1, 2017 was set aside by the S.C. Synod for the projects of Operation Inasmuch by Lutherans across the state. This was no April Fools’ Day as Holy Trinity joined in this endeavor and from all indications we had a very successful and meaningful day of ministry outreach. Over 50 members participated in 13 projects identified by the Service Committee. Of that number, 28 people went out into the community to work.
Some of the things we did together included:
• Hosted a Kick Off Breakfast for the volunteers;
• Prepared bag lunches for our volunteers;
• Collected items for female patients at Patrick B. Harris Psychiatric Hospital;
• Collected items for WELCA for their Synod Convention Collection Project;
• Painted the porch railing at the Luther House;
• Baked and delivered 22 dozen cookies to the Anderson Police Department;
• Wrote 61 notes to parents of Good News Club members thanking them for allowing their children to participate in the Good News Club at Concord Elementary;
• Our Lutheran Church Youth helped with gardening chores at the South Main Chapel Mercy Center;
• Scraped and painted handrails, pressure washed, and installed lattice work around a storage building at the Cancer Association of Anderson;
• Pressure washed the front porch area of the Anderson Free Clinic and performed a deep cleaning of the medical and dental exam rooms and waiting rooms;
• Prepared and delivered 32 frozen casseroles to the Calvary Home for Children;
• Scraped, prepped, and painted windows and a ramp at Anderson Interfaith Ministry;
• Photographed all activities and posted photographs on to the HTLC’s website.

Holy Trinity Good News Club Report – April 25
On Tuesday March 28th, fifty-two children along with parents and the faithful volunteers from Holy Trinity, celebrated the third successful year of Good News Club at the school with a pizza party, an Easter review game and a 5th grade graduation ceremony. Truly a fun but also very meaningful close to the year. However, following the celebration and the realization by the Holy Trinity volunteers with some vacation in sight, there was also a cloud of concern about the future of this mission.
In the spring of 2014 when Holy Trinity Church Council approved our sponsorship of the Good News Club at Concord Elementary, it did so with the hope that, though we are a smaller church we would be able to garner the financial support and volunteers necessary to make it a success. For the last three years we have accomplished both of these and have had an amazing opportunity to share the Gospel with hundreds of children and ultimately their families. Our children were taught to honor and cherish the Word of God in their Bibles, memorized verses and enjoyed the learning about God’s heroes in the Bible. We also prayed with them, sang with them and loved them unconditionally. Truly a blessing to all the volunteers as well as the children. However, because of such a small number of volunteers and no back-ups many of our team are tired and some just “burned out”.
As the coordinator and co-teacher with Pastor Fischer for the past three years, I am sorry to say, I fall into that “burned out” group and have said I will not be able to coordinate the program in the 2017-2018. Because I do love the program and believe in the mission so strongly, I will continue to be involved in a support role if we at Holy Trinity decide to continue this outreach activity. Also I do believe after a summer of rest, some of our volunteers will “step up to the plate” again, but without more volunteers to share the responsibility I feel it unfair to ask them to do so.
So, in conclusion I sincerely ask for your prayers about our continued sponsorship of the Concord Elementary Club. Also, please know I am more than willing to talk with anyone about the program and assist with any transition in leadership if that is our decision. If we decide we do not have the volunteer resources to continue, we will need to notify Child Evangelism Fellowship of our decision as soon as possible so they can seek another sponsoring church.
Finally, a sincere thank you to all in our church who have support the GNC ministry with your financial resources as well as your time and prayers. With our GNC at Concord, Holy Trinity has put word and action into our mission to “…proclaim the good news to our community and the world…”!

WISH LIST
The Good News Club is a Christian Children’s outreach ministry that is supported by HTLC. We sponsor a group every Tuesday at Concord Elementary.
A short video program is presented each week. This requires a laptop computer and projector. In the past, we had to lug these into the school and pack up and bring home afterword. The school is now providing a place to lock these items up on site. We have a projector to leave there, but do not have a laptop.
We would like to raise funds to purchase a laptop to be used by our group that can be left at the school. We would need about $500.00 to get a laptop that would support the video playback and projector use that they need.

Donations given to date total $250.00; so that there is a total of $250.00 still needed.

Your help is Needed
Nurses are collecting gloves, hats and scarves for South Main Chapel and Mercy Center. This church serves the homeless population of Anderson and these will be distributed throughout the winter months. If you would like to help us in this project, there will be a marked box located in the room off the narthex for donations. Any size is welcomed. Please contact Amy Goodson for more information.
