Scripture readings for Sunday Mornings

HELPFUL HINT OF THE MONTH
SCRIPTURE READING FOR SUNDAY MORNING
Have you ever wondered who decides which scriptures we use for our Sunday services? The Revised Common Lectionary is a 3-year series of scripture readings used by many denominations each Sunday. Not only Lutherans (ELCA and Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod) use this series, but also the Presbyterian Church USA, Reformed Church in America, United Church of Christ, United Methodist Church, Disciples of Christ, American Baptist Churches, USA, the Episcopal Church, as well as many others, both in the U.S. and around the world. Just think, on Sunday morning, we join countless others in the reading of the same scripture!
A listing of the Revised Common Lectionary readings are in the front of our ELW hymnal, pages 18-53.
Have you ever noticed on the back of a Sunday bulletin, near the bottom, is printed “Next Sunday’s Readings”? This is followed by the four readings for the next Sunday.
When you are one of the lectors for Sunday morning, Pat sends out a copy of the readings to you a few days before the service. You may also pick up the readings in advance by taking one of the copies of the Celebrate located in the narthex, on the counter. If you have trouble locating these copies, see Pat or Pastor Fischer.

Come out and support our Good New Club at Concord Elementary and Mt Lebanon Elementary School

Holy Trinity currently sponsors two Good News Clubs — one at Concord Elementary School and one at
Mt. Lebanon Elementary School. We are thankful for our volunteers:
Sandi Jordan, Cherie Brown, Leslie Cox, Susan Straup, Anita Brady, Jane Cahaly, Phil Cahaly, and Amy Compton.
We are looking for more volunteers from our congregation.
If you would be willing to serve in this capacity, please see Sandi Jordan.
So many children are hungry for the Word of God. Will you be willing to help out?

8/18/19 LCY tubing trip

The LCY “Last Blast of Summer”, AKA the tubing down the Green River, will be held on Sunday, August 18th. We will attend the Early Service and then head for the river! Wear your swimsuit under your clothes or change after worship. Bring a towel, dry clothes, shoes you can wear in the river, lunch/drink, $15 for tube rental and any extra you might want for snacks after tubing. Please contact Ms. Amy if you plan on going or if you have any questions! Hope you can join us!

Have extra vegetables?

Vegetables?
If you have an abundance of vegetables from your garden, would you please share them with the congregation? There will be a chair in the Narthex for you to place your extra garden veggies for people to share for a small donation for World Hunger. Any vegetables that are left will be taken to the Soup Kitchen.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Summertime and VBS go together naturally like peanut butter and jelly, Batman and Robin, and salt and pepper. Summertime may allow us a break from school but not a break from learning about God. Summertime gives us the opportunity to gather again in God’s name, in God’s House, to hear anew God’s love for us. There is just something special about summer and Vacation Bible School, not only for children, but for adults as well.
Following is a list of classes being offered June 24-27:
