09/28/25 Weekly Congregational Update

Dear Members and Friends of Holy Trinity,

Here are a few things happening at the church this week and next week:

  • A big “Thank You” goes out to all who helped pack SnackPack bags this morning.  We had 16 participate, as together we put together two pallets of boxes.  If you are interested in helping out in the future, contact Mike Cox.
  • The musical production of Maddi is almost here!  You are invited to attend one of two performances that will take place in our Fellowship Hall – Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.  Several of you have asked for a few more details so here they are:
    • What is this show about?  This show is the story of an older lady who becomes ridiculously obsessed with a much younger man, and how they resolve this situation without upsetting their friends and keep her family from having her committed.  The music is fun, funny and sweet and sad.
    • What is the length of the production?  About an hour.
    • Is there anybody in it we know?  Yes, several of our own members.  It was written by Kati Smith (and her sister, Trish Taub, did the music), Pamela Michalski will be at the piano, while other members, Virgil Hobbs, Beth Cribbe and Leslie Cox are in the cast.
    • Is there a cost?  No.  A free will offering will be received and the money gathered will be given to local theaters in Anderson.
    • Do I need tickets?  No.  Just come out and enjoy.
    • Can you give me a glimpse of how the Fellowship Hall is arranged?  Please see the photo above – all that is needed now, is you!
  • This Sunday is WELCA Sunday when the women of our congregation will be leading the worship service.  Deacon Dallas Shealy, Executive Director of the SC Lutheran Retreats Centers, will be our guest preacher (I will still be in attendance though.)
  • A couple of deadlines are coming up on Sunday:

    • Sunday is the FINAL DAY to purchase tickets for this year’s Deutsches Fest.  The event will take place next Saturday, October 4, but we need a headcount to help us with the food preparation. Just see a council member for tickets after the service.
    • Sunday is the FINAL DAY to submit the names of those you feel would make a good candidate for our Church Council.  Just fill out the form in the bulletin and drop off in the box in the narthex or sacristy.
  • Workshop #2 of “How To Give Your Faith Away” will take place Sunday evening in the Pairs and Spares Room from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  Jane Cahaly is our facilitator.
  • A week from today, Thursday, October 2, the Dining Divas group will gather at Carson’s Steak House.  You will need to RSVP with Beth Cribbe.
  • To all the animal lovers out there, on Sunday, October 5, our Blessing of the Animals Service will take place in the back parking lot at 5:00 p.m.
  • We keep in our prayers:
    • Susan Straup as she recovers from surgery this past Tuesday.
    • Stephen Roehrs and family, upon the recent death of his brother, Dr. Timothy Roehrs.

In Christ,

Pastor Fischer

9/21/25 Weekly Congregational Updates

Dear Members and Friends of Holy Trinity,

Here are this week’s updates:

  • Thank you so much for your generosity!  Last week, we as a congregation, gave the Gideons $1,236.00, which will buy many Bibles for them to distribute.
  • The new October-November-December issue of the Christ in Our Home devotionals are now ready to be picked up from the narthex.
  • Like many of you have done, earlier this week, I underwent skin cancer surgery.  I tell you this so that you are not too surprised to see a large bandage on my face Sunday.
  • Sunday, I will be preaching on the Gospel text, Luke 16:1-13.  This reading has been labeled as one of the most difficult of all the parables to understand.  Please read over this several times and think about the following questions:
    • Why would Jesus tell this story?
    • Why did Jesus make a hero of this crook?
    • What is the point of this parable?
    • How do we apply this parable to what we do today?
  • On Sunday evening, Jane Cahaly will be leading a 6-week program, “How To Give Your Faith Away.”   Classes will run in the Pairs and Spares Room from 6:00-8:00 p.m. for 6 consecutive weeks.  If you cannot attend them all, just come to the classes you can.
  • After a summer break, the Lutheran Men in Mission will gather for their monthly supper meeting on Monday evening, at 6:00 p.m.
  • “Maddi – the Musical Revue” is quickly approaching.  This 1-hour production will take place in our Fellowship Hall on Friday, next week at 7:00 p.m., and then again one last time on Saturday afternoon, next week at 2:00 p.m. A free-will offering will be received.
  • The last day to purchase tickets for this year’s Deutsches Fest is Sunday, September 28. They are now available from a church council member after worship or the church office, Monday thru Thursday.

In Christ,

Pastor Fischer

9/14/25 Weekly Congregational Update

Dear Members and Friends of Holy Trinity,

Here are this week’s updates to pass along to you:

  • On this 24th anniversary of the September 11 attacks on our country, may we remember and pray for the families of the 2977 who were killed on this day in 2001.  We also continue to pray for our military personnel who serve us at home and abroad.

  • Saturday, the Crafty Ladies group will gather in Fellowship Hall to work on their various hobbies.  You bring your stuff and we provide the space, from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.  Come and go as you like.

  • This Sunday is Gideon Sunday, when a Gideon representative will be us to give a brief update on their Bible outreach to others.  You will have the opportunity to support their work financially.  If you will not be with us Sunday and would still like to give, just send a check to the church and make it out to “The Gideons,” and we will make sure it reaches them.  Our congregation has a long track record of generosity toward their work in getting Bibles  out to others.

  • “Maddi, A Musical Revue” is coming to our Fellowship Hall for two performances, Friday, September 26, 7:00 p.m. and then again on Saturday, September 27 at 2:00 p.m.  The cast has been hard at work memorizing their lines.  To help us plan for seating, please let me know that you are planning to attend (with a REPLY email) and the performance you will be attending.

  • Jane Cahaly will be leading a 6-week course, “How To Give Your Faith Away” from September 21 – October 26 in the Pairs and Spares Room, each Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  Books will be provided but it would be helpful for you to let me know if you are planning to attend.  Please send me a REPLY, if you would like to participate in this event.

How to Give Your Faith Away

If you believe the greatest favor you can do for someone is to introduce them to Jesus Christ, then mark your calendar and plan to attend the “How to Give Your Faith Away” program from the Witness Committee! We will be meeting on Sunday nights from 6-8 PM, September 21st – October 26th in the Fellowship Hall. This program will be very interactive and include media, guest speakers, Q & A, and group discussions. It will be facilitated by Jane Cahaly from the Salt and Light Foundation and feature the works of Paul E. Little (1928-1975) as he shared his down-to-earth approach to how friendly and natural evangelism can be!
Don’t miss this opportunity to add the “tell” to the “show” for which HTLC is so well known in our community! Books will be provided.

Food Pantry Drive for Middle and High School Students

Child hunger remains a serious issue in our area. While many of us support the SnackPack Program for elementary students, the need continues beyond elementary school. To help meet this need, the Service Committee is collecting donations for SnackPack Pantries at Anderson County Middle and High Schools.

We can support the SnackPack Food Pantries by donating the following items:
Peanut Butter
Jelly
Cereal
Toaster Pastries
Macaroni and Cheese
Ramen Noodles
Granola Bars

Donations will be accepted on Sundays, September 7 and 14, and during the weeks leading up to those dates. Please place items in the gray bin on the table in the room off the narthex. Donations will be delivered on Tuesday, September 16.
If you have any questions about this project or suggestions for future “Gathering and Giving” projects, please contact Jamie Corrigan at (864) 224-8070 or Leslie Cox at (301) 788-9035.
