8/16/26 Weekly Congregational Update

Dear Members and Friends of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church,

Here are this week’s updates to pass along to you:

• Sunday will be the final day to bring frozen casseroles for the Calvary Home for Children project. All casseroles should be placed in the freezer of the Fellowship Hall, next to the ice maker. These dishes will go a long way to help these folks as the school year has begun.

• Sunday I will be preaching on the gospel text of Matthew 15:[10-20] 21-28 where it appears that a woman changes the mind of Christ to help her.

• Congratulations are in order for Virgil and Mary Ann Hobbs on the birth of a grandson, George McAbee Hinton, born to Abi and Asheton Hinton yesterday!

• We have several folks to keep in our prayers who have either been in surgery or will be or have been hospitalized this week:
o Susan Straup – who had surgery this past Tuesday and is home
o Dan Hunnicutt – who had knee replacement surgery on Wednesday and is now home
o Stephen Roehrs – who will have carpal tunnel surgery tomorrow
o Don Simon – who was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday (and is in Room 572 at AnMed)

• Please mark your calendars for our 5th Sunday, One Combined Worship, at August 30 at 10:00 a.m. As we usually do, we will have a Potluck Meal afterwards in Fellowship Hall. This will be a special event as we will also be recognizing Claude Williford for faithfully serving as our sexton for the last 56 years. Some of his family is expected to be with us as well for the meal. The Mutual Ministry Committee will be presenting Claude with a monetary gift from the congregation. If you would like to contribute to this gift, please place your donation in the offering plate this coming Sunday or August 23 and designate it for “Claude Williford,” or you may mail your gift to the church. Note: The Fellowship Committee will be providing the meat, beverages and cake. Please bring a dish or two to share.
