9/18/22 Weekly Congregational Updates

Dear Members and Friends of Holy Trinity,

Some things of interest to pass along to you on this Thursday:

  1. This coming Sunday, at the Late Service, we will be doing a Farewell Blessing and Godspeed for Jeff and Roz Eckardt, who are moving back to Illinois.

  2. Tickets for our Deutches Fest go on sale beginning on Sunday, $12.00 for adults and $5.00 for children, 12 and under. See a Church Council member to purchase tickets or contact Pat in the church office.  The Church Council decided on Monday evening that all funds raised this year will go to Good Neighbor Cupboard to help fight hunger in our area.

  3. Beginning Sunday and going until the end of the month, we are beginning a new outreach ministry – “Gathering and Giving.”  During this time-frame we will be collecting needed items for Calvary Home for Children.  Items include: Diapers of any size, baby wipes, clothes washing detergent, and cleaning products.  All donations should be placed in the room off the narthex.

  4. Don’t forget to fill out the Advisory Ballot form in the bulletin and return it by Sunday, September 25, if you have someone in mind who you feel would be good to serve on the Church Council next year.  You can submit up to 4 individuals. Just drop the names into the ballot boxes in the narthex and sacristy or mail back to the church office.

  5. We have a new updated amount received for the Gideons.  As you know, the Gideon Ministry spoke to our congregation on Sunday, August 28.   $922.00 was given during the worship services, and since then, another $600.00 was mailed in for a grand total of $1522.00 which is by far the largest amount we have ever donated!

  6. Sunday I will be preaching on the gospel reading, Luke 16:1-13, the Parable of the Shrewd Manager.  If you were the pastor, what would you preach on, based on this text?  This reading is considered one of the most difficult to understand.

  7. I am very pleased to announce that we will be receiving 10 new members into the congregation on Sunday, September 25!

In Christ,

Pastor Fischer
