REFORMATION SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27

REFORMATION SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27
We remember Martin Luther, born in 1483, nine years before Columbus discovered America. He studied law at the age of 21; became a priest at 23 and a doctor of theology at 28; wrote and nailed the 95 Thesis at age 33 and 34; was ex-communicated and became a fugitive at 38; translated the Bible into German at 40; and died from a stroke at the age of 63, an internationally admired leader. His teachings stressed justification by faith, universal priesthood of believers; and supremacy of scripture which form the cornerstone of Protestantism. [Please wear red on this Sunday]

10/13/24 Weekly Congregational Updates

Dear Members and Friends of Holy Trinity,

Here are this week’s updates to pass along to you:

  • I am happy to report that not only did the congregation have a great time at our Deutsches Fest event, together we raised $1,917.00, which will be given to this year’s recipient, Meals on Wheels – Anderson!

  • This past Sunday evening, we had a great turnout for our annual Blessing of the Animals Service.  We had 23 people, 10 dogs, 2 cats, 2 guinea pigs, and 1 macaw. We plan to hold another next year.

  • After being released from the hospital yesterday, Jean Vinson is now at Linville Courts at Cascades in Greenville, room 235.

  • At the Late Service this coming Sunday, Carter Boucher and Diana James will be rejoining our congregation after several years away in Virginia and Myrtle Beach.

  • Sunday, I will be preaching on the gospel text, Mark 10:17-31, as we explore God’s ability to see us as we truly are as human beings.

In Christ,

Pastor Fischer

10/6/24 Weekly Congregational Update

Dear Members and Friends of Holy Trinity,

As many of us have had our power restored by now, there are quite a few in the congregation who are still patiently waiting for this to happen.  Please reach out to those in need and let us all keep in our prayers the recovery process which will take years for some communities.

Here are some things happening this week and next week in our congregation:

  • Yes, the Deutsches Fest is still taking place this Saturday, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall and the back parking lot!   If your plans have changed that now allow you to attend this year’s event, and you do not have tickets, please come anyway.  Just reach out to me or Virgil ahead of time to let us know for planning purposes.  You can pay for your tickets at the beer tent.

  • Sunday, I will be preaching on marriage and divorce based on the Gospel text, Mark 10:2-16.

  • Sunday afternoon, our annual Blessing of the Animals service will take place in the back parking lot at 5:00 p.m. What I like to tell folks is, “No matter your pets, as long as they don’t bite me, I will attempt to bless it.”

  • Next Wednesday evening, our next Family Fun Night will take place as we look at the theme of the Reformation.

  • The WELCA Fall Conference that was scheduled for October 12, has been cancelled.

  • We keep in our prayers the following:
    • Jean Vinson who, after a fall, was admitted to AnMed on Wednesday.
    • John Sticker, who is doing better and is expected to return home on Friday.
    • Warren and Bonnie Lutz, as he nears death under the care of Hospice at Dominion.

In Christ,

Pastor Fischer
