Childrens Choir

Some parents of young children may be unaware that we have a children’s choir for children 4 years old through the 5th grade, and the children generally sing during the Worship Service on the 5th Sundays. We only have one 5th Sunday left this year and it will be October 30th. Then our next 5th Sunday will be in January 2023. We currently have 2 girls who have learned the Kyrie and a few simple songs, and they will be singing on October 30th. If you want your child (or grandchild) to join Mara and Daisey in singing; we practice after the Early Worship Service each Sunday for about 10 to 15 minutes. If this practice does not work for your schedule and you want your children to be included in this choir, please call Beth Cribbe (864) 617-6216 and she will try to work with your schedule to teach your children the music. The children practice in the room behind the sanctuary, between the Nursery & the Library.

Saturday Servants a big success!!

Saturday Servants A Complete Success!
A big “Thank You” to all who participated in July’s Saturday Servants project by making sandwiches, giving them out at the Soup Kitchen, picking up supplies, picking up food supplies, and donating needed items. Thank you for your generosity! As always we are grateful to Anderson Bakery for providing the bread each week. We are especially thankful to Leslie Cox and the rest of the Service Committee for putting all this together each year. Together, as a congregation, we are able to serve as the hands and feet of our Lord in feeding the hungry in our community.

Last Youth Blast of Summer

The LCY “Last Blast of Summer”, AKA the tubing down the Green River, will be held Sunday, August 21st. We will attend the Early Service and then head for the river! Wear your swimsuit under your clothes or change after worship. Bring a towel, dry clothes, shoes you can wear in the river, lunch/drink, $20 for tube rental and any extras you might want for snacks after tubing. Please contact Ms. Amy if you plan on going or if you have any questions! Hope you can join us!

8/7/22 Weekly Congregational Updates

Dear Members and Friends of Holy Trinity,

Here are this week’s updates to pass along to you:

  1. Last night we had another wonderful Summer Fun Night with 40 in attendance.  After enjoying a meal of chicken, chips, watermelon, and dessert, we turned out attention to the biblical story of Jonah and the Whale.  The children acted out the story as it was read, we sang a few related songs, and then created “stained glass fish” to take home.  Afterwards, the younger ones enjoyed a Slip N Slide out on the church lawn.  We plan to continue these events into the near future making adjustments as we go.  We will meet on the 2nd Wednesday evening of each month at the new time of, 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and we will call this congregational events, Family Fun Night.  Our next event will be September 14.

  2. Don’t forget our Congregational 100th birthday Drop In for Ms. Jackie McConnell will be Sunday morning between 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. in Fellowship Hall.

  3. Sunday,  I will be preaching on the gospel text, Luke 12:32-40 as we focus on verse 32, “Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”

  4. I am saddened to inform you that Jeff and Roz Eckardt have made the decision to return to Illinois to be near their family.  They have already left to prepare their new house but will be returning to Anderson in the coming weeks.  We will be having a “Farewell and Godspeed” as part of the worship service when they return.  I will keep you posted on this.

7/31/22 Weekly Congregational Updates

Dear Members and Friends of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church,

Here are this week’s updates to pass along to you:

  1. Don’t forget, with this Sunday being a 5th Sunday, we will be having One Combined Worship Service at 10:00 a.m.  After worship we will gather in Fellowship Hall for a Potluck Meal.  Please bring a dish (or two) to share.  These opportunities for fellowship are intentionally planned for us to get to know “the other half of the congregation.”  Most of worship at either the Early Service or the Late Service only.  This is a great way to catch up with old friends and create new ones with our church family.
  2. We will NOT be having our Adult Sunday School Class on Sunday since our meeting space, Fellowship Hall, will be set up early for our meal.

  3. I will be preaching on the gospel text, Luke 12:13-21 as we explore the story of the man who wants to build bigger barns to store his grain.  My sermon title is simply, “Stuff!”

  4. Our next Summer Fun Night will take place on Wednesday evening of next week, August 3, in Fellowship Hall from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  We will be exploring the biblical story of Jonah and the Whale. Supper will be provided. To help us with the planning of the meal, there is a Sign Up Sheet in the narthex.  Please note: even if you do not sign the sheet and Wednesday rolls around, we want you to come out and attend.

  5. On Saturday, the women’s organization of our congregation (WELCA – Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) will crank back up in Fellowship Hall, beginning at 2:00 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served.  After taking two years off due to COVID concerns, the women of Holy Trinity are invited to a gathering to meet each other and to kick start their ministry opportunities. If you have questions, please contact Beth Fischer, 864-933-7446.

  6. The following Sunday, August 7, we will be hosting a birthday drop-in for the congregation for Ms. Jackie McConnell from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. in Fellowship Hall, in between the worship services.  Ms. Jackie will be turning 100 years of age on August 9!  No gifts please.  Instead, your presence and perhaps a birthday card are the only things requested that day.

As I like to say, “See you Sunday, either in person, in worship, or via the internet”,

Pastor Fischer

8/9/22 Happy Birthday Ms. Jackie!

Happy Birthday Ms. Jackie!
On August 9, Ms. Jackie McConnell will turn 100 years of age! We as a congregation will be giving her a Drop In on Sunday, August 7, from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. This will allow both the Early Service folks and the Late Service folks to participate before or after worship that day. No gifts please. Just a birthday card and your presence is requested.

7/24/22 Weekly Congregational Update

Dear Members and Friends of Holy Trinity,

A few updates to pass along to you this week include:

  1. Please mark your calendars for Sunday, August 7, as we will be hosting a birthday drop-in for the congregation for Ms. Jackie McConnell from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. in Fellowship Hall that morning in between the worship services.  Ms. Jackie will be turning 100 years of age on August 9!  No gifts please.  Instead, your presence and perhaps a birthday card are the only things requested that day.

  2. This Saturday, we will again be gathering in Fellowship Hall to make sandwiches and lunch bags for those hungry in the Anderson area.  We begin at 10:00 a.m.

  3. Sunday, for our sermon message, we will take a look at Luke 11:1-13, and prayer.  I ask you to read, not only that passage, but our Old Testament passage as well [Genesis 18:20-32].  Questions to ponder:
    1. Why was this Old Testament text selected as a reading?
    2. What does this text tell us about God?
    3. What does this text have to do with the Lord’s Prayer?
    4. How does our view of God affect our prayer life?

In Christ,

Pastor Fischer

7/17/22 Weekly Congregational Update

Dear Members and Friends of Holy Trinity,

Blessings this summer day!  Here are a few things going on in the congregation:

  1. We extend a big Thank You to Diane Richardson for filling in for Pat in the office this week so that she could have some time off.

  2. Last night, we again had another incredible Summer Fun Night together as we focused on the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.   We had 45 in attendance as we enjoyed eating and catching up with each other, singing old favorites “Pass It On” and “Kumbaya My Lord” (it has been a long time since I last sung these two songs), acting out the biblical story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, making bird feeders using peanut butter and birdseed, as well as making S’mores around a campfire.

  3. Sunday I will be preaching on the gospel reading of Luke 10:38-42 which contains the story of Mary and Martha, one serving Jesus and his followers, as the other sister hung out with Jesus and did not help.  We will focus on handling the endless demands on our life but choosing the important ones.

  4. I ask a favor of you.  We currently do not have enough convenient parking for those who use the ramp entrance of the church.  If you are parking on Oakland Street (the side street) and are not physically challenged, would you please consider parking in the front of the church or the back of the church to free up spaces for those who could benefit greatly from parking near the ramp for easy access?  Thanks!!!

In Christ,

Pastor Fischer
