8/9/26 Weekly Congregational Update

Dear Members and Friends of the Congregation,

Here are this week’s updates to pass along to you:

• We are grateful for Chad Evans who has agreed to be in charge of the maintenance of our small engines.  Chad follows several others who have been very faithful in doing this over the years, including Paul Rummage and most recently, Robert Allen.  Thank you, Chad!

• We are grateful for Diane Richardson who will be in the church office next week, allowing Pat to take some time off.  Thank you, Diane!

• Sunday, I will be preaching on the gospel text, Matthew 14:22-33, of Jesus (and Peter) walking on the water and calming the storm. Some questions to ponder in preparation for the sermon:
  • What are some of the “storms” in your life?
  • Is there a difference between God allowing those “storms” and God causing those “storms”?
  • Can any good come from “storms”?
  • What do you suppose is the reason for Jesus rescuing the disciples when He did?

• Wednesday evening will be our next Family Fun Night as we look at the disciple – James the Less.

• Don’t forget our 2-week Frozen Casseroles for Calvary Home for Children blitz, beginning on Sunday. All the details are in your bulletin.
