05/17/26 Weekly Congregational Update
Dear Members and Friends of Holy Trinity,
Here are this week’s updates to pass along to you:
- It looks like scams involving me are making their ways around again. This week, several of you informed me of receiving the following email from “me”: “Greetings in Christ, I have a request I need you to handle discreetly. I’m currently in a prayer session and unable to take calls. For reference purposes, I prefer email. Rev. J. Chris Fischer, Pastor” (This was followed by a quote from the Bible!). Always be wary of anything that is out of the ordinary. 1) I never sign my emails formerly with “Rev. J. Chris Fischer,” 2) Ask yourself if I have ever done this before?, 3) what “prayer session” is being referred to?, and 4) the dead giveaway, the email address is not mine. If you are ever in doubt, please call me directly or text me directly.
- A Memorial Service for Trisha Taub (Kati Smith’s sister) will take place this coming Saturday in Fellowship Hall, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
- This Sunday, I will be preaching on the gospel reading, John 17:1-11, as we explore more of the final words of Jesus to his followers, before his ascension into heaven.
- Our Prayer Garden Rededication Service will take place Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. Refreshments and a chance to tour the grounds will follow the service. There will not be any Sunday School classes.
- A Safety Team meeting will take place Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall for those serving the congregation in this capacity.
- Monday evening the Annual Lutheran Men in Mission Ladies’ Night will take place at 6:00 p.m. A hamburger/hotdog cookout and program will be awaiting us!
- A week from today, Thursday, the Luther’s Ladies Circle will gather for their monthly meeting at 6:00 p.m.
- If you have a family member graduating from High School, Technical School or College this spring, Sunday is the final day to submit that information for our June Messenger. You can simply send that info to my in a REPLY to this email and I will get it to Pat.
- All those who teach Sunday School, provide care in our nursery, work with the youth or vulnerable adults in the congregation are asked to attend a Preventing Abuse Training session, on Sunday, May 31 after our One Combined Worship Service and Potluck Meal. If you have any questions, please reach out to Kate Roehrs (864-356-2907).
In Christ,
Pastor Fischer
