9/7/25 Weekly Congregational Updates

Dear Members and Friends of Holy Trinity,

Here are this week’s updates to pass along to you:

  • The funeral service for Jackie McConnell will take place tomorrow, Friday,  at 4:00 p.m. in our sanctuary.  Ms. Jackie was 103!  Her photo is attached below.

  • Congratulations go out to Nancy Scalf on the birth of her great-granddaughter, Presley Marie Dunn, born yesterday, to parents Madison and Holden Dunn.

  • We keep in our prayers, Susan Straup, who underwent surgery earlier today and is now at home recuperating.

  • Sunday, we will be baptizing Whit Caldwell at the Early Service.  Virgil and Mary Ann Hobbs will be serving as his baptism sponsors.

  • This week, I will be preaching on the Gospel reading, Luke 14:25-33, as we explore the cost of being a disciple of Christ, and the legacy we leave to others.

  • Sunday, the Service Committee will be starting a 2-week food pantry drive for local middle and high school students. We will be collecting: peanut butter, jelly, cereal, toaster pastries, macaroni and cheese, Ramen noodles, and granola bars.  There is a collection bin located in the room off the narthex.  For more information, please see your bulletin or September newsletter, or contact Jamie Corrgian or Leslie Cox.

  • Our next Family Fun Night will be on Wednesday evening as we look at the commandment, “You shall not steal.”

  • “Maddi, A Musical Revue” is coming to our Fellowship Hall for two performances, Friday, September 26, 7:00 p.m. and then again on Saturday, September 27 at 2:00 p.m.  This production was written by our very own Kati Smith and her sister, Trisha. It features several from our congregation, Pamela Michalski on the piano, as well as cast members: Virgil Hobbs, Beth Cribbe, Leslie Cox, and two others you will get to know from the community, Pamela Chauvin and Jay Caparas. There is no charge but we will be receiving a free will offering.  To help us plan for seating, please let me know that you are planning to attend (with a REPLY email) and the performance you will be attending.

  • Jane Cahaly will be leading a 6-week course, “How To Give Your Faith Away” from September 21 – October 26 in the Pairs and Spares Room, each Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  Books will be provided but it would be helpful for you to let me know if you are planning to attend.  Please send me a REPLY, if you would like to participate in this event.

  • This is the time of the year when the congregation has input on the next group of church council candidates.  There is a form in your bulletin and September newsletter to submit names.  The deadline to do this is September 28.

In Christ,

Pastor Fischer
