3/17/24 Weekly Congregational Updates

Dear Members and Friends of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church,

Here are this week’s updates to pass along to you:

  • Congratulations are in order for first-time grandparents, Mike and Bobbi Metz, on the birth of their grandson, Gabriel “Gray” James Wykel born on Wednesday morning.  He weighed 9 lbs. and 6 oz. and was 20 “ long.

  • We keep in our prayers Phyliss Barnette who underwent successful hip replacement surgery this morning at Prisma Health Oconee Hospital.

  • The new Christ in Our Home devotionals for April/May/June are now ready to be picked up at your convenience in the narthex.

  • The new lights for our front parking lot were installed by Duke Energy on Monday.  You will see a big difference in the evening.

  • Sunday I will be preaching on the Gospel text, John 12:20-33 as we grapple with finding God in the difficult times in our lives.

  • The Anderson University Music Students and the Church of the Ascension, Anglican Church will be using our sanctuary for a Choral Evensong worship service on Tuesday of next week, March 19 at 7:30 p.m. You are invited to attend this traditional Anglican service which focuses on the singing of the psalms and other biblical canticles.

  • On Wednesday of next week, our final Midweek Lenten meal will take place.  This will be a Congregational Potluck Meal so please bring a dish or two to share. Supper begins at 6:00 p.m. Worship will follow at 7:00 p.m.

  • Since it has been 3 years since we last updated our Congregational Pictorial Directory, Dave Korn will be on hand following both worship services to take your photo on Easter Sunday.  If you find yourself needing an alternate date, Dave will be available on Palm Sunday, March 24 and again on Sunday, April 7 but you will need to reach out to Dave to set up a time.  His cell phone number is:  864-634-2927.

  • Each year for Easter Sunday, we give the congregation the opportunity to place an Easter lily in the sanctuary In Honor Of or In Memory Of someone.  These flowers are pre-ordered from a local plant nursery so that they will be in bloom for our festive worship services.  To date we have 16 of the 35 flowers spoken for which means we still need another 19. The cost is $19.00.  If you are interested in purchasing a lily (or two), please send me a REPLY with the information and I will relay this to Pat (or you can fill out the bulletin insert and drop it in the offering plate or reach out to Pat in the church office).

In Christ,

Pastor Fischer
