07/05/26 Weekly Congregational update
Dear Members and Friends of the Congregation,
Here are this week’s updates to pass along to you:
- The combined issue of the July/August newsletter was printed and dropped off at the post office on Tuesday. Hopefully the upcoming holiday won’t delay delivery too much.
- Thanks to your quick response to our request for additional food items, we now have almost everything we need for Saturday Servants. We only need 20 more boxes of individually wrapped cookies (12 per box). Now what we need is you – as volunteers to help put the lunch bags together. Even though this coming Saturday is July 4 and a holiday weekend, hunger takes no vacation. We will begin at 9:45 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. Even though the days are very hot in the month of July and some of you will be out of town, you have always come through and we have always had enough volunteers.
- With July 4th landing on a Saturday this year, you will notice a patriotic theme in much of our music on Sunday. Our final hymn will be “O Beautiful For Spacious Skies.”
- I will be preaching on the gospel reading, Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30, as we hear the much-needed words of encouragement that we are “Yoked To Jesus.”
- Sunday, we will be switching back to the With On Voice hymnal, or “blue hymnal” as it is commonly referred to. I remind you that for a little variety, we use this hymnal in the months of July and August each year.
- On Wednesday evening of next week, we will be covering the disciple, Phillip, for our monthly Family Fun Night event.
- We keep in our prayers:
- Barbara Trent – who is now home after a recent stay in the hospital
- Amy Goodson – who is home recuperating after foot surgery on Tuesday
- Bill Welborn and family, upon the death of his wife, Brenda, on June 25th.
- Bob Davenport and family, upon the death of his wife, Janice, on June 29th.
In Christ,
Pastor Fischer
