03/29/26 Weekly Congregational Update
Dear Members and Friends of Holy Trinity,
Here are this week’s updates to pass along to you:
- We keep in our prayers Chris Caldwell and his family upon the death of his brother, Johnny, on Tuesday of this week.
- The April edition of The Messenger was dropped off yesterday at the post office to be sent out.
- Abiding Savior Lutheran Church is having a Spring Youth Activity this Saturday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Crafts, games, an
Easter Egg Hunt and snacks will take place. Children, Youth and Adults are invited to participate. - This past Saturday the Property Committee sponsored a Congregational Workday at the church. We will do this again this coming Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m. to spread mulch.
- Our collection for Clean Start ends this coming Sunday. We have gotten off to a fantastic start due to your generosity! This event is sponsored by our Service Committee. For a complete list of items we are seeking, please see Sunday’s bulletin.
- This coming Sunday, being a 5th Sunday, we will have One Combined Worship Service at 10:00 a.m. (no Sunday School classes though). This will be Palm Sunday as well. Whether permitting we will begin our worship service outside on the front sidewalks. However, with the temperatures that are expected, more than likely, we will gather in the sanctuary as usual, except that the Processional Gospel well be read from the back of the church as we begin worship.
- In the place of Sunday’s message, the congregation will be participating in the Passion Reading. This is the only time of the year when we hear the entire crucifixion story of Jesus.
- A Potluck meal will take place in Fellowship after Sunday’s worship service. The meat will be provided by the church. You may drop off your food items before worship, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Members of the Fellowship Committee will warm up dishes as needed.
- On Maundy Thursday of next week, we are offering two identical worship services to choose from. One will take place at 12:00 noon and the other at 7:00 p.m. as we explore the Lord’s Prayer petition, “Forgive Us Our Trespasses As We Forgive Others.” The only difference in the two services is that the Stripping of the Altar will take place at the conclusion of the 7:00 p.m. service, symbolic of Jesus’ humanity being stripped from Him at the hands of the Roman soldiers.
- Then on Good Friday of next week, we are offering two identical worship services to choose from, as we finish up our series on the Lord’s Prayer, focusing on the petition, “Lead Us Not Into Temptation, But Deliver Us From Evil.” Tenebrae will be a part of both services as we close by hearing the Last Seven Words of Christ.
- As you make your Easter worship plans with your family, on Easter Sunday, our Sunrise Worship Service will take place at 7:00 a.m., followed by a meal that will be provided in Fellowship Hall. Our second worship service will take place at 11:00 a.m. It is my prayer that you will take part in as many services as you are able during this Holiest Week of the year.
In Christ,
Pastor Fischer
