SUMMARY:Fellowship hall project informational meeting
DESCRIPTION:Fellowship Hall Update \nAfter eight months of meetings\, listening to the needs of the congregation\, exploring options and cost estimates\, we are nearing a formal proposal. \n  \nTo summarize what we have done: \n\nInformal meetings were held for the congregation on February 20 and March 9 to discuss improvements to Fellowship Hall.\nFrom these meetings\, Church Council appointed the following members to serve as a Fellowship Hall Committee to help development a plan: Tom Weeks\, Ernie Thoms\, Bob Straup\, Paul Wagner\, Jill Helgeson\, Vicki Lybrand\, Sandi Jordan\, Ann Caldwell\, and  Tony and Christa Mollgaard.\nOn April 23 and on May 7\, informational meetings were held to give the congregational members the opportunity to discuss possible updates to Fellowship Hall and to obtain feedback and suggestions.\nAfter numerous meetings\, talking with various contractors\, exploring options and gathering cost estimates\, the Committee gave a presentation and proposal to the Church Council at its monthly meeting in August.\nChurch Council has decided to give members two opportunities to hear and ask questions about the committee’s proposal.\n\nOn Sunday\, September 24 (during the Sunday School hour)\, beginning at 9:50 a.m. in Fellowship Hall\, the committee will share its proposal with the congregation and allow members the opportunity to raise questions and offer comments.\nThen on Sunday\, October 15\, at 10:00 a.m. in Fellowship Hall\, committee members will be on hand to give members a final opportunity to ask questions and offer comments. (Please note: there will be no presentation on this day.)\n\n\nThen on Sunday\, October 22\, beginning at 9:50 a.m. in Fellowship Hall\, there will be a congregational meeting to vote on whether to move forward with the proposal and to approve funding for this project. (Please note:  as per our HTLC Constitution and Bylaws\, voting by proxy or by absentee ballot is not permitted.)

DESCRIPTION:Monthly Beer and Hymn’s \nFollowing the tradition of Martin Luther\, Lutheran Churches across our country have been hosting events that have come to be known as “Beer and Hymns”. Beer and Hymns is a fun\, family-friendly event where we join together on a Sunday evening singing great hymns and gospel praises while enjoying Martin Luther’s favorite beverage. Festivities will kick off our version of Beer and Hymns at 6 PM inside Anderson’s brewery Carolina Bauernhaus located at 115 West Federal Street (park behind the Arts Center). Brenda McGowan\, Sharon Christmas and Jay Bannister have offered their musical talents to make the experience a joyous event. We are hopeful to continue this ministry and gather together every third Sunday of the month with the community in faith and fellowship. Come join us!

In honor of the achievements of Martin Luther\, throughout the months of September and October I will be leading a 5-week Small Catechism class for the adults. The last time I offered these classes was in 2012 and the course was well attended.\nWho should attend? If you became a Lutheran as an adult and missed out on the opportunity of attending Confirmation classes\, then these classes are for you. If you recently joined the congregation\, then these classes are for you. If you have been a life-long Lutheran and would like a refresher course\, these classes are for you. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend.\nHave you ever wondered why we stand during the reading of the Gospel? Are you aware of the Biblical connections to our liturgy? Would you like to know more about the seasons of the church year? Do you know the difference between infant baptism and a believer’s baptism? Do you know what Lutherans believe when it comes to Holy Communion? These are just some of the topics we will cover.\nThere will be a morning session and an evening session for each topic. Come to the one most convenient for you. Even if you cannot make it to every class\, come to the ones you can attend. All classes will be in the Pairs and Spares Room. SUMMARY:4PM 4th Annual Deutsches Fest
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, October 21\, from 4-7 p.m. Holy Trinity Lutheran Church will host its 4th Annual Deutsches Fest\,a German festival to celebrate our Lutheran heritage. This year we have again invited Abiding Savior Lutheran Church to join us. We will gather in our Fellowship Hall and dine on German foods like bratwurst\, roast chicken and German side dishes. Beer\, wine and softer beverages will be served. We will have German music\, dancing and Gemütlichkeit\, which does not have a direct English translation but describes an atmosphere which is comfortable and enjoyable. \nTickets are $12.00 for adults and $7.00 for children (12 and younger) and are available from a Church Council member or through the church office beginning today. Tickets need to be purchased in advance to help us with the planning of the food. The deadline to purchase tickets is Sunday\, October 15th\nPlease contact Virgil Hobbs or Jay Bannister who are coordinating this event if you would like to volunteer. Mark your calendars now as we look forward to a wonderful afternoon/evening of fellowship for our two congregations. \n
